Imaging and Microscopy Events to Attend in Summer 2021

The summer has approached fast, but it's still hard to plan our holidays in the current state of the world. On a positive side, this creates more opportunities for virtual learning and networking, attending digital events all over the world.

So we collated the scientific events over the summer 2021 which you cannot miss. At some of them you can see us, and (spoiler!) some are even organised by us.

June 22–25
European Light Microscopy Initiative 2021 (#ELMI2021)

The European Light Microscopy Initiative is a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the equipment manufacturers.
The 4-day event is packed with scientific lectures, 'hands-on' workshops and exhibition of the latest technology, organized by the leading companies in the field.
Jetraw will be there and you can book a meeting with us via https://www.elmi2021.org/sponsors/sponsors/jetraw-by-dotphoton.html

June 30, 4pm CEST
Jetraw online talk: En route to the next breakthrough: the new perspective on raw image data

Would you like to know how to make the most of your raw data to maximise your research outcome? The webinar will uncover the unknowns of raw data, the challenges associated with it, and how to overcome them. We will talk about the latest approaches to image data management and the future for AI-based image analysis. The event is free.

July 1–2
PSB Symposium 'Frontiers in Bioimaging'

The aim is to highlight progress in 3D imaging research that bridges the gap between the atomic and cellular scales, with spatial resolutions spanning from subnanometer to submicrometer range. Featured topics will include: cryo-electron tomography, X-ray tomography, volume electron microscopy, image analysis, super-resolution microscopy, and correlative approaches. The applications of the above methods to address essential questions in life sciences is of particular interest. Registration is FREE, but mind the deadline: 27 June 2021

July 5–9
Microscience Microscopy Congress 2021 (#MMC2021)

Big international scientific virtual gathering, where a conference is taking place on 6 - 8 July consisting of six parallel streams, covering an enormous range of microscopy, cytometry and imaging topics. Meetings and workshops on latest innovations will take place 5-9 July. It's free to attend, so make sure you register while you can.

July 9
Euro-BioImaging Tech Exchange talk featuring Dr. Bruno Sanguinetti - Head of R&D at Jetraw

Euro-BioImaging is the pan-European Research Infrastructure for imaging technologies in Biological and Biomedical Science. They run virtual pub talks every Friday at 1pm CEST where we sometimes get to speak.

Also, Euro-BioImaging Industry Board launched the Tech Exchange seminar series – one hour of technology and product presentations that provide an opportunity for imaging facilities and users in the network to learn about new technologies and exchange on technical questions.

On Friday 9 July 2pm CEST Bruno is giving a talk on "Handling large data sets: compression and scalable analysis".

August 18–20
Principles And Applications of Neuroimaging Data Analysis

Turku PET Centre is organising a three-day intensive course 'Principles And Applications of Neuroimaging Data Analysis', which will be held in Turku in August 18th - 20th 2021. It will give excellent hands-on expertise for working with common neuroimaging modalities (PET and structural and functional MRI). The course is free, held in person, but they will stream the lectures over Zoom.
